On October 13th GAFSP officially launched the Call for Proposals at the World Bank/IMF Annual Meetings. Ministers from GAFSP partner countries, namely Liberia, Somalia, Togo and Yemen spoke of both their complex situation given the dire food crisis and the relevance of GAFSP as this additional piece of financing that enables them to fund immediate priorities. Ministers from donor countries, namely Canada, Norway and the US expressed their support for GAFSP due to its flexibility and timely availability of financing to complement humanitarian efforts. IFAD, the World Bank and WFP were also part of the panel and discussed the importance of this newly launched Call and how it will help them leverage their work at the country level during this challenging time.
